I don't mind admitting I occasionally troll the Craigslist ads to see what's out there. I've even managed to meet a few men from there in my local area, one who was even cool enough to continue seeing.
Most of the time, though, the ads are too funny to actually be real. Like this one:
"I'm a man who has been completely and utterly betrayed by the love of my life. I need a woman to take care of me because I cant go on with such ultimate betrayal on my conscience 24/7 (yes, she even invades my dreams). I am a published writer with a nation-wide tour coming up in February but at this point dont see me living long enough to facilitate the coming to pass of my publicist's wishes. I just want to be held and taken care of. If you are of the nurturing type, send me a pic and why you'd fit the bill and we can meet and go from there. I hope this doesn't sound one-sided. Once I feel loved and needed I am the most caring person on earth. Please help me. I dont want to die but cant live anymore like this. My life is hell 24/7. I just need to feel worth life. Nurture me. Dead in 72 hours. Please respond soon."
Evidently, Mr. Published Writer uses apostrophe's on a pay-as-you-go basis, which might explain his leaving out of a few. Not to mention the "dead in 72 hours" line.
Whoa.
You know, nothing says "this person looks interesting!" like threats of suicide in a personal ad!
