so glad I have a desk job

Wow. Just wow.

The stories coming from yesterdays plane crash landing in the Hudson River are amazing. Amazing that all passengers and crew survived. Amazing that the passengers seemed relatively calm as they tried to escape the plane.

Amazing that the pilot was able to land the plane safely in the water and that the flight crew were able to keep everyone calm and help them get out safely.

I can't help but put myself in the situation when I read stories like that. If I'd been one of those flight attendants, would I have been that calm? Would I have remembered my training and done what was necessary or would I have allowed panic to take over?

I have a feeling I would have been paralyzed with fear and no good to anyone.

We throw the word 'hero' around a lot, most of the time inappropriately, but in this situation, the pilot and crew definitely deserve to be called heroes.
