the death of privacy

Is that what we've come to, in the age of the Internet? Because information CAN be posted online for the world to see, it MUST be?

I'm as guilty as millions of others are of reading the gossip sites. Perez Hilton. TMZ. etc. I'm randomly curious about what people are wearing and who's arguing with whom.

But there's a limit to what should be posted online in the name of feeding public curiosity. The websites that have posted the stolen photos of Rihanna after her assault should be publicly shamed and reviled. The only point to intruding on the privacy of a victim of an assault is just to feed the public appetite and garner page views. The puplic does NOT have the right to view those images and the victim DOES have the right to privacy.

I'm ashamed for the site editors.

And I'm removing their sites from my blog roll.

For shame. For shame.
