I love the way people apologize today.
The football coach at Tennessee was caught accusing the coach at Florida of cheating. His apology was the standard, "if I offended anyone, I'm sorry." In other words, if his lies offended anyone, it was their own damn fault but I'll pretend to apologize."
Now we have a cartoon appearing in the New York Post (one I won't copy here) that's clearly and obviously meant to be offensive and the response from the newspaper is to lay the blame for the offense at anyone who is offended.
Right.
Whatever happened to a good old fashioned "I'm sorry"? "I fucked up. I did wrong. I'm not just sorry that I got caught, I'm sorry that I made the wrong decision."
Whatever happened to those kind of apologies? The ones where you actually are apologizing and not just blaming someone else because you need to apologize?
Society is headed to hell.
