the outside of the loop

I didn't watch the Grammys.

I'll wait a few minutes for the gasps of horror to fade away.

But, there you go. I didn't watch the Grammys. I also don't watch the Emmys. Or the CMAs. Or the MTV whatsits. I do watch the Oscars. Well, to be technically correct, I *sometimes* watch the Oscars.

I'm hoping Jezebel has a fashion thread later today, and if they do, I'll check out the best and worst dressed of the night. But that's really all I'm interested in.

Most of the names that constitute the nominees and winners are names I only recognize from the gossip pages. I recognize a few from my younger days, usually with a 'he's not dead?' response.

I could take the easy route and blame my lack of knowledge on getting old or out-of-touch, but it would be more true to say that I just don't care. When I listen to music, it's either country music on the radio or something from my CD collection, and that is as apt to be a Cole Porter cd as it is to be anything contemporary.

I suppose I should set a goal to become more educated musically, to broaden my horizons and open my preferences.

Nah. I'll stick with looking at photos of the dresses the next day.
